The Great Reshuffling/Resignation
Hi there,
Welcome back to our erstwhile newsletter. Things have been simultaneously slow and yet hectic on our end. We have changed roles, expanded our 9-5 team, taken on new clients, and we are at the cusp of hiring our first part-time employee.
Some time ago, we took the opportunity to re-introduce the Pursuit team; in case you missed it, meet our team members below:

The Great Reshuffling/Resignation
This tweet by the indomitable Kat Cole caught my attention and since then, it feels like I’ve seen this term all over Twitter and LinkedIn. The idea is that after living and working through a pandemic, employees are making different life choices and moreover, they are acting on them. Collectively, employees are demanding more in terms of welfare and wellbeing and are not afraid to leave if employers do not meet their expectations. Those employers who fail to recognise and honour the changes in the way we work will face the ‘Great Reshuffling’ or the ‘Great Resignation’.
One of the motives behind Pursuit is to share the experiences of our network with young Black Women and Women of Colour so that they can learn from and avoid the mistakes of their predecessors. When leaving a role, I always take the opportunity to ask my stakeholders and other senior leaders this question, “Is there any advice you have for me as I leave? You have known/managed me for x amount of time – what would your advice be?” It has been my experience that at this juncture, and with this type of prompt, people are more likely to be open and give you true, real advice.
One such piece of advice I received was, “People always underestimate just how important your first 100 days are in a new role - how hard one must work and how strategic you need to be. Don’t forget that.” It has in fact been one of the best pieces of career advice I have ever received. So, in anticipation of, and preparation for the Great Reshuffling, we will be running a series called the First 90 days + 10 in Q4.
We’ll be using one of the best books we have read on this subject which is entitled The First 90 days: Critical Success Strategies for New Leaders at All Levels . We highly recommend reading this book before you start your new role (ideally whilst you’re looking for your next role). If you intend to be part of “The Great Reshuffling” in the next few months, you won’t want to miss our series.
Till next Tuesday!
